In 1995, to celebrate Sennheiser’s 50th anniversary, a special limited-edition HD580 Jubilee was released. It featured thermoplastic carbon fiber components, metal grilles, and precisely matched drivers. This limited run effectively served as the prototype for the legendary HD600.
I was fortunate to acquire number 0544 of the limited run of just 4,000 HD580 Jubilees. Even today, they remain highly sought after by collectors.
The hollow covers are made from mahogany, after many hours of routing with various jigs they became a reality.
Initial impressions are that the sound appears at tad closer, more intimate.
