In 1995 for Sennheiser’s 50th anniversary a special limited edition HD580 Jubilee was produced, which featured thermoplastic carbon fiber body parts, metal grills, and precisely matched drivers. The limited run were actually the prototypes for the legendary HD600.
I was lucky enough to get number 0544 of a limited run of only 4000 Jubilees. Even today they are in great demand from collectors.
The hollow covers are made from mahogany, after many hours of routing with various jigs they became a reality.
Initial impressions are that the sound appears at tad closer, more intimate.
