Review: Seiko SKX781 "Orange Monster" Automatic Watch

I have always had a weakness for nice watches I dont know why maybe its the technical aspect of watches while at the same time having great asthetical appeal.

I guess my first proper watch was when my Dad gave me his  Bulova Accutron 218 Tuning Fork .The watch although cutting edge for its time proved not very reliable.

Unfortunately he didn't give me the solid gold bracelet with it ,but he still has the same braclet from all those years ago on his current watch which is pretty cool.

I just regret that for my 21st birthday i didnt buy a Rolex Submariner from memory it  ran about £895 and even today a well looked after second hand Submariner can command upwards of £2500 and new ones retailing at around £4200.

Anyway back to the subject at hand being much older and apparently wiser now its my 40th and what better way for a bloke to mark this occasion but with a new watch.

I have had a few nice Quartz watches one of them being an Omega Seamaster which I still own today.
To be honest I just don't see the value in expensive quartz movements unless they have a specific role where electrical power is needed such as the Tissot T-Touch whose hands literally turn into an analogue compass or altimeter.

So this time I though it had to be an automatic movement In my favourite style the driver.
Here enters the Seiko SKX781 nicknamed the "ORANGE MONSTER"

Whats in the Mail: PoLabs PoKeys56U USB I/O Device

After reading my  "Reverse engineer and re purpose an old Keyboard" article Boris over at PoLabs kindly sent me a "PoKeys56U" to have a play with :).

This looks like an updated version of the one I mentioned in my article.

"U" designates the USB version and "E" the Ethernet version

The specs and feature set look rather impressive

Review: Zalman ZM-VE200-SE V1.1 Virtual CD/DVD/BR USB Drive

With the current trend being towards downloadable content and the ever decreasing price of storage there comes a point where formats such as Optical media like the CD and DVD just like floppy have had there day they are slow and fragile and easily misplaced .With the death of the floppy for any long term use back in the start of 2000 it was still a pain to have to use a floppy to load the dreaded RAID driver to be able to continue with the install.
Wouldn't it be nice to have all your essential games or operating system discs and tools on one device ,well this is where the Zalman ZM-VE200 comes into its own .

Repair: Dell Streak 5 LCD Replacement Guide + Hidden Internal SD Card

Update: Time Laps (x5) reassembly video

A friend asked me to replace the screen on his much loved Dell Streak 5 Android "Phablet" or midget 5" tablet/phone .From the way the screen has cracked it appears to have had pressure at the lower edge of the screen .

The disassembly was pretty straight  forward but it did reveal a hidden surprise regarding the internal memory..................................
